{"id":20558,"date":"2022-08-16T13:25:03","date_gmt":"2022-08-16T18:25:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mundoitam.com\/?p=20558"},"modified":"2022-08-19T14:55:56","modified_gmt":"2022-08-19T19:55:56","slug":"itam-announces-new-gender-protocol","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mundoitam.com\/en\/2022\/08\/16\/itam-announces-new-gender-protocol\/","title":{"rendered":"ITAM Announces New Gender Protocol"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>On September 30th 2021, the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM) presented the new <strong>ITAM Protocol for the Prevention of and Response to Cases of Gender-Based Violence.<\/strong><\/p><div id=\"mundo-1019515966\" class=\"mundo-contenido mundo-entity-placement\" style=\"margin-top: 20px;margin-bottom: 20px;\"><style type=\"text\/css\">\r\n .ad-square h3 { \r\n\tfont-size: 11px;\r\n    font-weight: 300;\r\n    letter-spacing: 2.3px;\r\n    color: #6a6c6e;\r\n    font-weight: normal;\r\n    margin: 18px 0;  \r\n\tfont-family: \"Lato\", \"Helvetica Neue\", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\r\n\t}\r\n<\/style>\r\n\r\n<!--<center> <div class=\"ad-square\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>ANUNCIO<\/h3>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/noche.itam.mx\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/mundoitam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/noche-itam-v2.png\" alt=\"Anuncio\" style=\"border: none; display: block;\"><\/a>\r\n\r\n<\/div> <\/center>--><\/div>\n<p>This tool is in response to the sensitive and legitimate demand by the university community to have an updated and modern instrument, in accordance with the best international practices in this matter, that reflects the perspectives of gender and inclusion, as well as the unrestricted respect for human rights.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, it is based on the commitment by ITAM President Dr. Arturo Fern\u00e1ndez to the student body, as well as to the teaching and administrative staff, to provide the ITAM community with an environment free of gender-based violence in any of its manifestations.<\/p>\n<p>The new <strong>ITAM Protocol for the Prevention of and Response to Cases of Gender-Based Violence<\/strong> is the product of the reflection of many months of intense debate and open dialogue. Said dialogue included representatives of various national and foreign universities. In addition to recognizing that gender-based violence can occur in any type of relationship, there was an effort to overcome preconceptions and establish a diagnosis of needs from which to begin. In this way, what at first seemed like unsurmountable differences, agreements were reached that today are reflected in this document.<\/p>\n<p>The protocol is also the result of the committed work of a group of experts made up of specialists in gender and legal issues, headed by ITAM authorities and officials, and led by former ITAM student Melissa Ayala, a lawyer who specializes in human rights and feminist legal theory.<\/p>\n<p>Something unprecedented in the rewriting process was the creation of a microsite open to all sectors of the ITAM community in which each of the discussions, arguments and proposals can be followed up on a timely basis, as well as being enriched with comments.<\/p>\n<p>The protocol establishes that ITAM is obliged to promote respect among all members of the community and to ensure that this principle is observed. It is also obliged to promote \u2013 always in the framework of legality\u2013 an environment free of violence and discrimination based on gender and diversity.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe community of the Institute can be sure that we do not tolerate or cover up harassment or disrespect,\u201d Dr. Fern\u00e1ndez said.<\/p>\n<p>University authorities are aware that, like any tool of this nature, the new ITAM Protocol for the Prevention of and Response to Cases of Gender-Based Violence is perfectible.
