The attendees \u00a0at the presidium included the Mayor of Mexico City, Miguel Angel Mancera; the Minister of Public Education, Aurelio Nu\u00f1o; ITAM\u2019s Provost, Alejandro Hern\u00e1ndez, and various select faculty representatives, namely, Carlos Bosch (representing Maria Trigueros as faculty representative), Lorenzo Meade, representing alumni, and student M\u00e9xico Alberto Vergara, the current representative.<\/p><div class=\"mundo-contenido\" style=\"margin-top: 20px;margin-bottom: 20px;\" id=\"mundo-1734849639\"><style type=\"text\/css\">\r\n .ad-square h3 { \r\n\tfont-size: 11px;\r\n    font-weight: 300;\r\n    letter-spacing: 2.3px;\r\n    color: #6a6c6e;\r\n    font-weight: normal;\r\n    margin: 18px 0;  \r\n\tfont-family: \"Lato\", \"Helvetica Neue\", Helvetica, Arial, sans-serif;\r\n\t}\r\n<\/style>\r\n\r\n<!--<center> <div class=\"ad-square\">\r\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h3>ANUNCIO<\/h3>\r\n<a href=\"https:\/\/noche.itam.mx\/\" target=\"_blank\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" src=\"https:\/\/mundoitam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/noche-itam-v2.png\" alt=\"Anuncio\" style=\"border: none; display: block;\"><\/a>\r\n\r\n<\/div> <\/center>--><\/div>\n<p>The ceremony was attended by distinguished academics, renowned business people, representatives of civil organizations, as well as those of the public sector.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mexican Presidents have traditionally attended these anniversaries<\/strong>: Miguel de la Madrid (fortieth), Ernesto Zedillo (fiftieth), and Vicente Fox (sixtieth). For this anniversary ceremony, Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto did the honors of presenting awards to members of ITAM\u2019s faculty with more than 30 years of service, to administrative staff with 35 years of service, and, for the first time, to alumni who were previously awarded with the <u>Premio Carrera al<\/u> <u>Universo<\/u>, (the highest distinction bestowed by the Alumni Organization).<\/p>\n<p>The following received this recognition: Miguel Mancera Aguayo, Francisco Gil D\u00edaz, Pedro Aspe Armella, Agust\u00edn Irurita, Ernesto Vega, Javier Bonilla, Agust\u00edn Carstens Carstens, Felipe Calder\u00f3n Hinojosa, Enrique C\u00e1rdenas, Jaime Zabludowsky, Jos\u00e9 Antonio Meade, and Mart\u00edn Werner. Georgina Kessel, Francisco Mayorga, and Jes\u00fas Reyes Heroles were not able to attend the festivities.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-4623\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/mundoitam.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/ceremonia-conmemorativa-del-70-aniversario-del-itam_30623448712_o.jpg?resize=1000%2C879&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"1000\" height=\"879\" \/><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\">\u201cDon Alberto, ITAM is your best and lasting legacy to Mexico! Thank you!\u201d stated Dr. Arturo Fern\u00e1ndez, ITAM\u2019s President.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>He gave a speech that highlighted the importance of this event and recognized all who have made it possible: Its founders, its sponsor, Don Alberto, the Board of Directors, the administration, its dear faculty, and the students. I am sure what has been achieved has surpassed Don Ra\u00fal\u2019s dreams and those of our group of founders . They never imagined that ITAM would be the great institution that it is today,\u201d stated Don Alberto Baill\u00e8res, President of ITAM\u2019s Board of Directors, at the beginning of his speech.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Don Alberto Baill\u00e8res reminisced about the legacy of his father, Don Raul Baill\u00e8res, as well as his own personal relationship to ITAM for more than fifty years. In addition, he spoke about the changes that Mexico has faced in the last three decades and <strong>his conviction that Mexico has a great future<\/strong>. An education cultivating social values in its people, educating its citizens to be good and successful, giving them a command of science and technology and allowing them to earn their living with dignity and decorum.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Enrique Pe\u00f1a Nieto also presented an award to Don Alberto Baill\u00e8res<\/strong> from ITAM\u2019s university community in recognition of his five decades presiding over ITAM\u2019s Board of Directors, as well as his dedication and generosity to education and particularly to ITAM.
