On december 8th, the Alumni Association made their yearly president change. This new chapter within the association starded in Rio Hondo campus and was attended by Dean Arturo Fernandez, Vice-chancellor Alejandro Hernández, Alejandra Peralta Borja, Anakarina Piña, president of the Alumni Association during 2022 and Meney de la Peza, the newly appointed president. This event reflects the importance that ITAM’s Community has in and out of the institute.
“We are very grateful and proud of Anakarina’s work, she managed to get our alumni back to the institute after the pandemic, all because she was able to connect our alumni within the country and in other countries through several online events that had a high attendance rate. And, also, because she crossed borders with the opening of the RedExITAM in Miami and soon to come in New York.” as stated by Dr. Arturo Fernández in his welcome speech.

Who is Meney de la Peza?
Meney de la Peza graduate from the undergrad program of Economics and from the master’s program of Risk Administration at ITAM. Currently, she is an independent economist and professor in the Economics department at ITAM. Within her interests are the analysis, design and implementation of public policies and the regulation to promote competition and market development.
Previously, she acted in the Energy Regulatory Commission as Chief of the Natural Gas Unit, worked in the Secretary of Economics and the Secretary of Treasury and Public Credit., in the International Association of Pension Fund Supervisory Bodies and in Banco de Mexico. She also has worked as a consultant, offering technical assistance to the mexican government through projects financed by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
What is coming for 2023?
The work plan proposed by Meney de la Peza for her presidency in 2023 is based in the continuity and strength of the relevant projects for the community. Concretely, she is looking to continue with the economic perspective seminars and supporting grants such as Nuestro ITAM, MIPI, Becatlón and other fundraising programs; continue with ExITAM prize and with the prize Carrera al Universo and to Professional Merit and, lastly, continue with more editions of the Conexión magazine.
One of Meney’s main objectives in her presidency is to improve the relationship with ITAM alumni.. She is looking to enhance the support the Alumni Affairs Office offers, look for synergies with already organized alumni groups already, promote physical and virtual spacer to interact and exchange ideas and strengthen the link between alumni.
ITAM Alumni community
ITAM’s Alumni Association is a non-profit Civil Association that organized events to strengthen and maintain the link between ITAM graduates. Besides the events, conferences and spaces for networking and lectures that they offer, it actively looks the creation of a professional and personal community where ITAM community members can participate. Actually, its presence is not limited to Mexico, there are offices and representatives that continue to grow in the international landscape.
