Alejandra Álvarez, who is a graduate from the Financial Strategy Program at ITAM and holds a Master’s in Business Administration degree from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business, has been recognized as an Arjay Miller Scholar. This recognition is given to the top ten percent alumni of the program and owes its name to Arjay Miller, former Dean of Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business and former CEO of Ford Motor Company.

Alejandra shared with us that her high-school experience as a top student encouraged her to pursue a university career. “I was the first woman in my family to complete her professional studies, which is why I care to see more women and diversity in all fields”, asserted Alejandra.
The beginnings of her university career
Afterwards, she explained her process previous to choosing ITAM as her alma mater.In high-school, she participated in “Premio Contacto Banxico”, where her team got 2º place nationally. During the competition, she had the opportunity to meet many members of ITAM´s Community and to get familiar with the financial system, eventually leading her to study in the Financial Strategy program.
“Challenging is the main characteristic of ITAM University (…) I denitely learned to be disciplined, organized, time efficient and most of all to be passionate about learning. (…) Seeing so many women from ITAM at the best universities showed me that I could enter as well, that is how I got to Stanford”, shared Alejandra
Besides her studies at ITAM and subsequently Stanford, Alejandra´s professional career has taken her through Bain & Company, The Clinton foundation, the “Iniciativa de Acceso a la Salud”, Pro-Mujer as a consultant and she has most recently arrived at Google.
Education is something deeply rooted in her life, that is why she most profoundly wants to democratize the access to it for everybody. Furthermore, she asserted that good things happen when you leave your comfort zone. Alejandra is really excited to motivate other women as she once was motivated to reach her goals and fulfill her dreams.
